The Impact of iPad on Children between 2
The Impact of iPad on Children between 2 Situation Many children aged between two and ten years spend much of their time watching television. Others spend their time playing with electronic gadgets like iPads, iPods, and others. What many people do not understand is that these gadgets may have adverse effects on children.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Impact of iPad on Children between 2-10 Years specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More While many children learn a lot through iPads, the negative effects of the iPads overshadow the learning benefit. Using an iPad for a long time may lead to children suffering from visual problems (Dillion, 2004). Limited research focuses on the effects of iPads on children. Many of the existing research agree that children aged between two and ten years encounter visual, pronunciation, violence, and comprehension problems after using iPads for a long time (Korat, 2009). This paper will come up with a PR program aimed at investigating the impacts of using iPads on children aged between two and ten years. Objective The objective of this program is to bring out the negative effects of using iPads among the children. The paper aims at creating awareness within the parents and children concerning the negative effects that iPads have on children. In the long run, the program aims at ensuring that parents reduce the number of hours their children spend playing or texting using iPads. Target audiences Many children do not understand that iPads subject them to visual problems. Hence, they spend many hours using them, which eventually lead to some complaining of eye fatigue (Williams Skoric, 2005).Advertising Looking for research paper on communications media? Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More To create awareness about the negative effects of iPads on children, this program will target children aged between two and ten years. Besides, pare nts do not limit the number of hours that children spend using iPads. Therefore, the paper will also target mothers as one way of ensuring that they help the young children, especially those that are two years old. These children are vulnerable to the negative effects of iPads since they are not aware about them. Target media To achieve the intended objectives, the study will use a number of media. One of the media that will be used to convey the message concerning negative effects of iPads on children aged between two and ten years is online communication through social media. The findings will be published on Facebook and Twitter to reach parents that use these social media platforms. Besides, the findings will be published in monthly and annual reports, which many parents and children can access. Publishing the results in monthly and annual reports will guarantee that the target audiences access the report at any time throughout the year. Not all parents have access to social med ia and annual and/or monthly reports. Hence, the program will also use television to enlighten parents about the negative effects of letting their children use iPads for a long period. This medium will help to reach the uneducated parents who have purchased iPads for their children. Besides, running advertisements on television will help young children, especially those that are two years old to understand the dangers of using iPads for many hours.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Impact of iPad on Children between 2-10 Years specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Strategy The program will develop a comprehensive report about the adverse effects of iPads on children, which it will publish on social media and issue it as monthly and annual reports. Besides, the program will come up with a television advertisement to help young children understand the dangers of using iPads for a long time. The key message for t he study will be that long-term use of iPads among children may make them suffer from visual, pronunciation, comprehension, and violence problems (Wagner Sternberg, 1987). The program intends to enlighten the parents on the need to limit the number of hours their children spend using iPads. On the other hand, the program will educate the children aged between two and ten years concerning the dangers of using iPads for a long time. This will encourage them to cut down on the number of hours they spend playing or texting with iPads. Tactics The PR program will come up with pamphlets that contain report concerning the negative effects of iPads on children. Every parent will receive a pamphlet. This will give parents an opportunity to learn about the effects of iPads on children. To reach the children, the program will develop a captivating advertisement, which will draw the attention of the children. The advertisement will be simple and precise to make sure that children understand th e intended message. Calendar/Time table Activity Expected Implementation Period Year 2013 May 01- May 15 May 16- May 19 May 20- May 24 Preparation of the report and advertisement + Report writing and advertisement compilation + Release of the report and advertisement + Budget Activity/Item Quantity Cost (US$) Pamphlets printing 200 135.00 Transport 45.00 Television advertisement daily advertisement for two months 200.00 Total 380.00 Evaluation At the end of the program, the researchers will use different methods to evaluate the success of the program. They will determine the number of pamphlets that were distributed to the parents. This will help to establish the number of parents that the program reached. In addition, the researchers will monitor children during the campaign period to establish the number of children that watch and comply with the advertisement. During the campaign period, researchers will also monitor the advertisement to make sure that it delivers the intended message clearly and precisely.Advertising Looking for research paper on communications media? They enhance their academic capacity by reading e-books and attempting online tests. On the other hand, children suffer from visual, comprehension, and pronunciation problems due to using iPads. Besides, some children become violent due to watching and playing violent games on their iPads. Many children do not know how to adjust the brightness of the iPad screen. Hence, the light makes them strain their eyes when using an iPad. This ends up leading to the children suffering from visual problems. The main problem is that both children and the parents are not aware of the negative effects of iPads. This underscores the need for establishing a PR program to enlighten parents and children about the negative effects of iPads on children. References Dillion, A. (2004). Vampire social fear 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Vampire social fear 2 - Essay Example In earlier times, vampires have been portrayed in mostly negative light mostly showing demonic themes, but currently, vampire and their fear has gradually disintegrated to the extent that they have become part of the modern society and rather than being viewed as monsters, they now even now inspire trends. Everything from fashion to the entertainment industry portrays vampires as sexy, mysterious entities, who feature in movies like Twilight as abnormally romantic beings. Science has also adopted the myth of the vampire to describe living things that exhibit similar characteristics to those famed to be of vampires. As an illustration, ââ¬ËVampireââ¬â¢ is derived from the biological term, vampirism, which refers to living things that feed on the life matter (that is: blood) of other living beings, for example, the Vampire Bat. According to vampire legends people who are considered to be evil in their life will turn to vampires in their after-life. These people include, but may n ot be limited to: outcasts, people who died as a result of suicide, criminals, and any other type of person that is considered to immensely evil in his acts. This paper will discuss how the society has ingrained the fear of vampires in its activities and how such fears are associated with the supernatural and superstition. Also considered is the effect of these fears on perception about ââ¬Ëliminal states of existenceââ¬â¢ (living on the margins). Since vampires are considered undead (because they are logically already dead yet still live), this paper will illustrate how vampires might be exposed to both advantage and disadvantages of the modern society due to advanced technology (Williams 15). Vampires in Todayââ¬â¢s Society The legend of the vampire has gone through transformations that have changed the dark former image of evil, crime and demonism to one that is simply a source of mystery and fascination. Todayââ¬â¢s society has dismissed the phenomena of ââ¬Ëundea dââ¬â¢ beings that awake in the night to look for blood and in the process, turn the bitten humans into vampires. All the former reasons used to justify the existence of vampires have been shown to be untrue. Myths have been argued out by juxtaposing them with real life facts, thus emphasizing their fallacy. The vampire persona has been described by scientific medicine enabling us to understand why ââ¬Ëweirdââ¬â¢ people act as they do. Vampires have acquired a new dimension in todayââ¬â¢s society: they fulfill our fantasies through literary fiction like works like Stephen King's Night Shift collection of short stories. In his book, King gives a chilling encounter of how people come face to face with normal people turned into vampires in the short story: One for the Road. King shows how a normal out-of-the-way town became a horror spot. The story ends with the implied warning that anyone should not make a stopover at a town where it is rumored vampires reside, because you will be turned into one yourself (King 416). Vampires have also been used by psychoanalysts to describe the nature of manââ¬â¢s psyche. Analysts use the paradigm of a vampire to illustrate how people react when they are faced with challenges that go beyond the levels of manageable reality. A vampire is used to symbolize the ultimate fear that one can face in his life. Vampires have enabled psychoanalysts to determine the psyche behind people who commit hideous acts like homicide that is accompanied by excessively

Scientific Concepts and Methodologies Lab Report
Scientific Concepts and Methodologies - Lab Report Example This paper explores the various microorganisms that are detrimental to human health and the biochemical potential that enables them to pose such dangers. Ascertaining and knowing the microorganisms that are associated with water are very important in the sense isolation of the bacteria will allow for the study of their biochemical tests and a remedy for their infection. The understanding of the biochemical nature of the microorganisms will also enable appropriate water treatment to ensure that they are safe for consumption. Bacteria are one of the microorganisms that are known to be extensively found in water. As Wearing clearly put it in his bookââ¬â¢ Bacteria: staph, strep, clostridium, and other bacteriaââ¬â¢ (2010), bacteria are ubiquitous and have fast means of propagation; budding, binary fission being the most frequent one. Bacteria can be classified in many classes depending on their morphology and, biochemical tests. Almost all classification of the bacteria starts with the Gram test. This test helps categorize bacteria in two wide groups; the Gram positive and negative. Depending on whether they are positive or negative necessitate further classification into streptococcus and staphylococcus as well as bacilli and others which are bacteria of unique morphology and biology (Schink, 2000). The bacteria known to be found in water are the Escherichia coli and salmonella species. E.coli is found in the human gut and other warm blooded animals. They are generally rod shaped and are gram-negative. These microorganisms are found in the human body as the normal flora and are known to be harmless to the body. Interestingly, there are serotypes of the bacteria that are quite harmful and are pathogenic to human. They are able to cause serious devastating gastrointestinal infection. This is the serotype coded E. coli 0157:H7 (McArthur, 2006). It is contracted through eating or drinking

English essay on Of Mice and Men Essay Example for Free
English essay on Of Mice and Men Essay Steinbeck uses an example of symbolism in the form of Candys dog. Re-read pages 70-76, what qualities/ values does this dog represent? Which human characteristics could be represented by these qualities/ values? Candy is the oldest man on the ranch. As he is the oldest, he has more things to worry about than the others. He has only one hand and a womens name, and through Steinbecks writing, we know why this is, because he has lost his masculinity and pride. He also has a pet extremely old pet dog, which he loves and everyone loathes, as they think it is useless and suffering, Candy thinks otherwise and doesnt want it shot. Candys dog, which doesnt have a name and is incredibly old in the story, represents the fact that things that are unimportant are unknown to other people. This represents Candy as an old undervalued character that is slowly loosing value like his dog. It establishes that if youre an old animal, then youre in trouble. This is why Candy is so reluctant to have his dog shot because he knows what its like to be old and unwanted, but because he and his dog share the same qualities, he feels like they are close friends that rely on each other. In the book, he says Im so used to him, he said softly. I had him as a pup. This shows the closeness between the two. Candy cant bear to imagine loosing something he has been so close to for most of his life on the ranch. And has he and the dog dont have anyone but themselves, Candy feels that he will be completely alone after the dog dies. Because Candy doesnt want the dog to die before him, he wants to savour what he has got left. Candy and the dog are both living on borrowed time, which means as soon as the boss finds out Candy is too old to work, hell throw him, and Candy wont have anywhere to go. When Candys dog does get shot he feels instant regret. This is because he felt he should have shot the dog, and not Carlson. Candy feels that by not doing this, he has betrayed his dog and let him down. If anyone is supposed to take responsibility over anyone, it should be their best or closest friend. He wasnt there to comfort the dog too, he feels guilt and is let down by his actions. Some one else that is in the same position as Candy and his dog are Lennie and George. George being the strongest to the two is very protective over Lennie. He makes a point of always telling what to do, but for his own good. People at the ranch criticize George on his choice of friendship, but this is because no one else seems to have a close companionship except them and Candy and his dog. They are jealous they dont have the privilege to have someone to rely on. George and Lennie really do count on each other, as they are planning to get some money together and buy and farm so they can grow their own food and have animals. At the end of the book, when George kills Curleys wife, he runs away just like George told him to and hides. When George finally finds him, he knows Lennie is going to be killed by an angry mob, so he takes the matter into his own hands. He speaks to Lennie about how theyre going to live, and about rabbits, as Lennie loves them so. This way he can kill Lennie without a sore consciousness and with Lennie truly happy. The only other couple in the story are Curley and his wife, who has no name in the book. This shows that women werent the same status like men, and also like Candys dog, she doesnt really have any value to anyones life in the book, so she dies along with Lennie and the dog. Though she and Curley didnt have a good relationship, he obviously cared for her, and went crazy when she was killed. Because it was Lennie who killed her, Curley felt like it was his responsibility to kill Lennie. Curley new what his wifes nature was like, flirtatious and open. This would make the reader think that Curley was maybe jealous that it wasnt him that killed her, but Lennie, who is seen as the village idiot. In this novel, I think Steinbeck was trying to tell us that if you have companionship throughout the toughest times of your life, dont count on it, because one day the other person will let you down. He also wanted to show that whoever you take companionship with; you will have to take responsibility of their death. He wanted to show the readers that in a tough time, you cant have someone to reply on all the time you have to be independent and strong.

Slip or Trip Essay English
On August 13, 2013, at approximately 1:37 A. M. , Sparks police department received a call that an accidental death has occurred. Queenie Volupides, the wife of the deceased Arthur Volupides, claims that her husband slipped and fell on the stairs while he was coming down to the kitchen for another alcoholic beverage. She says that she wasnââ¬â¢t home when the incident occurred. She states that she was at a country club that was hosting a party and that when she arrived home (at approx 1:15 A. M. ) she found him lying on the stairs dead. However, the crime scene shows many inconsistencies within Queenieââ¬â¢s Story. Deputy Blank arrived on the scene at around 2:15 A. M, responding to Volupides 911 call. After viewing he crime scene, Deputy Blank noticed that in Arthurââ¬â¢s left hand there was an unbroken glass (presumably what he was drinking alcohol in). This raises many suspicions. If Arthur had tripped and fell down the stairs, then the glass shouldnââ¬â¢t be in his han d unbroken but instead somewhere in the vicinity of his body shattered. This is because, usually, when somebody is falling down the stairs they will drop whatever is in their hands to try to grab a rail or really anything to try to regain balance. Also, the glass was found in his left hand and when somebody is intoxicated, they can barley stand let alone attempt to hold a glass in their non-dominant hand. Also, Deputy Blank noticed that Queenie had been cooking something when officers arrived. While she was expecting guests, the body of Arthur was just feet away from the stove. Most people would have noticed the dead body and called the police right away.Responding officers have theorized that the pan she was cooking in is the murder weapon. Upon further inspection, Blank also realized that Arthur was still in his formal suit when he was killed. When Questioning Queenie about this she says that he was supposed to go to the party with her but before she left they had gotten into a fig ht. That explains why he had gotten into his suit but yet still doesnââ¬â¢t explain why he had stayed in his suit. If Arthur had been home for more than ten minutes, then he probably would have taken off at least his shoes, robe, and tie.Suspicious where near confirmed when Arthurââ¬â¢s autopsy came back. It did confirm that Arthur had had a high blood alcohol level. It also concluded that he had died from a wound on his head. If Arthur had really fallen down that flight of stairs then there would have been more injuries than that of the wound on this head. Maybe if he had a broken bone or was bruised then Queenieââ¬â¢sââ¬Å" falling down the stairsâ⬠story might have been believable. Our recommendation is that Queenie Volupides is charged with Arthur Volupides Homicide.

Utilitarianism A Perfect Theory - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 4 Words: 1061 Downloads: 5 Date added: 2019/08/08 Category Ethics Essay Level High school Tags: Utilitarianism Essay Did you like this example? Given that all sound moral theories are multifaceted outlines for the best methods of action for humanity, we all have our opinions as to which of these theories are valid and which are not. Moreover, given that the innate nature of ethics is subjective, no matter what theory we choose to employ, there will always be an array of negative and positive aspects to them. Simply put, the most accepted definition of utilitarianism is that it is a theory that asserts the best actions are the ones that benefit the majority. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Utilitarianism: A Perfect Theory" essay for you Create order On the other hand, another, less popular definition of this theory is that it is a moral framework that asserts that in the cases in which there are no immediate actions that will benefit the greater good, all actions are banned until the proper remedy can be reached. Either way, while this theory has certainly received its fair share of criticisms, I feel they are mostly undeserved. Of all the theories to choose from, in a perfect world, utilitarianism would serve as the foundation for the vast majority of actions being taken. Furthermore, the latter definition also asserts that even if there are actions that can be taken that may provide some short-term benefits, these actions must be avoided unless the long-term outcomes are in favor of the greater good. Although the notion of a utopia has long since been determined to be widely unrealistic, I am of the belief that utilitarianism is the theory that would bring us closest to it. That said, the following is a closer look at my thoughts on this theory and why it should be the prevailing moral theory of the world. To peacefully exist in a society means to, in many ways, be interdependent. No matter how far we evolve in life or how rich and famous we become, we all need other people in order to survive and thrive. For example, no matter how rich a person may be, if he/she is unable to receive medical care when they need it, they will likely become sick and pass away, much like those who live in poverty. Moreover, even the people of the notoriously barbaric, isolated tribe on North Sentinel Island in Andamans depend upon the government, each other, and trusted vendors in order to remain a healthy and thriving society, despite living in virtual isolation. So, in other words, no man is an island. However, while the prevailing attitude seems to champion those who are self-centered and act in their own best interest, this is not the proper way to build a cohesive society. Indeed, by taking one look around the world, and certainly around the country, ?cohesive is not the word I would ever use to describe American culture. Moreover, as we continue to behave in ways that are hurtful or even deadly to ourselves and others, we continue to spread divisiveness, not only at home but abroad as well. However, I propose the use of utilitarianism could be our ultimate solution. On the other hand, the other definition of utilitarianism asserts that we should avoid acting in cases in which the long-term consequences and implications could be to our collective detriment. For instance, if two nations are at war, it would be wise to enact a ?ceasefire rather than allowing other countries to get involved. On the one hand, no matter which side is winning the battle, there are typically countless lives lost on both sides of the equation. So, while it might be tempting for allied countries to join the battle in order to defend their relationship with a particular country as well as other interests, the ultimate result would just be more turmoil and bloodshed for all parties involved. Therefore, the best action would be to stop acting or to prevent the battle from continuing rather than seeking revenge, although that may be the option that provides the most immediate benefits. Should we still be fighting all these wars, given the number of lives that continue to be lost all over the world? Should we continue our widespread dependence on oil despite the massive consequences to ourselves and the environment? Obviously not. However, we have been fighting wars for many decades (or centuries, depending on how you look at it). Furthermore, we continue to use oil as one of the top commodities, due to allowing the interest of a few control the actions of the masses, despite the ill-effect it continues to have on the environment. These actions have been to our own collective detriment. The ozone layer is depleting, climate change is real and active, and people are dying in wars across the globe every single day. Nevertheless, because of the perceived powerlessness of the masses, we continue to suffer in relative silence. To take is a step further, this is all fueled by capitalism, which is a very self-centered system that allows some to get rich at the cost of the livelihood of others. While naysayers of this theory would assert that utilitarianism can, in certain instances, deny us a sense of justice, I would assert that this all depends on what ones idea of justice entails. For instance, some argue that utilitarianism may favor the use of a sacrificial lamb if this means there will be some sort of benefit for the collective. However, these types of arguments seem to ignore the fact that the best short-term outcome is not the same as the greatest good. That is to say, even if using someone as a scapegoat of sacrificial lamb would be a method of avoiding all-out calamity, this is still not the best course of action for the collective. Although making such a move seems like the best action overall, in the long term, this would leave everyone subject to becoming a scapegoat or sacrificial lamb at some point. This is the opposite of what you would expect out of an ethical, well-functioning society. Overall, in a perfect world, utilitarianism would be the most used theory. In order to ensure that we are looking out for our collective best interest, we need to use theories that make us consider the bigger picture. Utilitarianism is the perfect theory because it forces us to put our personal feelings and opinions aside in order to consider how our actions will ultimately impact humanity as a whole.
